Reading a Density Report Right
Keyword density = occurrences ÷ total words × 100. The tool lists top single words plus 2- and 3-word phrases (where real search intent lives) with common stop words filtered out. Text stays in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
The honest modern take: there is no magic percentage, and stuffing beyond ~2-3% for one term reads as spam to both users and Google. Use the report diagnostically — is the phrase you want to rank for actually present and near the top? Do variants and synonyms appear naturally? A topic covered well produces a healthy spread, not one spiked term.
Frequently Asked Questions
What density should I aim for?
None as a target. If your main phrase lands around 0.5-2% while appearing in the title, first paragraph and one heading, you are typically fine. Rewrite for humans when any term feels repetitive aloud.
Why do phrases matter more than single words?
Nobody searches "calculator" alone — they search "auto loan calculator". The 2-3 word rows show whether your page actually contains the queries you care about.
