Words per Minute, Two Speeds
Adults read silently at ~200-250 words per minute; a 1,500-word article is a 6-8 minute read (the number blogs put next to titles). Speaking runs much slower: ~130 wpm for a clear presentation pace — the same 1,500 words fill an 11-12 minute talk. Paste your text (nothing is uploaded) or type a word count; both times update with adjustable rates.
Planning rules: a 5-minute speech is ~650 words; a 20-minute conference slot ~2,500. Slides, pauses and Q&A eat time — draft 10% short of the slot, never over.
