From Percent to 4.0
US institutions map percentages to letters, and letters to grade points: 93-100 = A = 4.0, 90-92 A- 3.7, 87-89 B+ 3.3, 83-86 B 3.0, 80-82 B- 2.7, 77-79 C+ 2.3, 73-76 C 2.0, 70-72 C- 1.7, 67-69 D+ 1.3, 63-66 D 1.0, 60-62 D- 0.7, below 60 F 0.0. The tool also shows the simple linear value (percentage ÷ 25) that some international credential evaluators use.
No single official table exists — some schools use a 10-point scale (90+ A, 80-89 B ...) without plus/minus. For applications, the evaluator's table (WES, ECE, or the university's own) is the one that counts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 85% a 3.0 or a 3.5 GPA?
On the standard plus/minus table, 85% falls in the B range (83-86) = 3.0. On a straight 10-point scale it is also a B. The linear method gives 85 ÷ 25 = 3.4 — which is why you should always name the table you used.
How do I convert my whole transcript?
Convert each course to grade points, multiply by its credit hours, sum, and divide by total credits — that is a weighted GPA. Our GPA Calculator does exactly this.
Do evaluators accept the linear (÷25) method?
Some do for rough screening, but formal evaluations (WES, ECE) apply their own country-specific tables that are usually less generous than linear conversion. Use their calculators for official numbers.
